What to look for

Pick the team in white and count every clean pass they make before the clip ends. Keep the number running in your head the entire time — don't round it off early, and don't let anything else on screen distract you from it.

What you should know

In the original study, roughly half of participants failed to see the unexpected figure at all, regardless of how carefully they'd been counting. It isn't a trick of the footage — split attention and focused counting reliably produce this result across age groups and repeat viewings, right up until you know to look for it.
