What is emotional awareness?
Emotional awareness is the ability to notice what you are feeling, put it into words, understand where it came from, and read the feelings of the people around you. It is a core part of emotional intelligence and it shapes how you handle stress, conflict and close relationships.
It is a skill, not a fixed trait. People who can name their feelings precisely, such as disappointed instead of just bad, tend to find them easier to manage.
