Why cancer awareness matters
The World Health Organization reports that cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2024, or nearly one in six deaths. It also reports that about 38% of cancers can currently be prevented by avoiding risk factors, and that many cancers can be cured if they are found early and treated well.
That is why awareness matters. Knowing the risk factors, the warning signs and the screening available to you gives you real power to lower your risk and to act early. This quiz covers common myths, prevention, early signs and screening, and how to support someone with cancer.
